ICYMI: TWiST Weekly Recap! 4/10-4/16
Hi everybody, happy Monday!
Below are the producer’s picks for the BEST TWiST moments from last week.
Producer’s Picks:
Nick:
Last week on E1718, Jason broke down a recent study by Stanford and Google researchers in which they created 25 “generative agents” in a Sims-like sandbox video game environment
These agents were given a “memory architecture” which enabled them to record memories, reflect and synthesize those memories, and then come to conclusions and plan events in the future based on prior experiences with other agents
Eventually, researchers found that with little prompting, these agents were meeting each other, remembering new pieces of information, and planning events!
It was a wild study and a great breakdown. Check it out! (2:27)
Jon:
On E1720, Jason, Sunny, and Vinny dove into the rapid pace of AI development.
One example that stood out to me was when Sunny referenced a developer recreating Flappy Bird in under an hour by using Midjourney (9:44).
Experiments like this really highlight the industry's remarkable pace of progress.
Be sure to give episode 1720 a listen. There were a handful of amazing insights and examples from Sunny and Vinny!
Brian:
On E1721, Jason welcomed Hyfe CEO and Co-Founder Joe Brew to discuss his startup, which quantifies coughs and uses AI to help with early disease detection.
The highlight for me was Joe's insight into a study by the Emerging Pathogens Institute on COVID-19 patients.
Utilizing Hyfe's cough monitoring technology, the study revealed that decreased coughing doesn't necessarily indicate improvement.
In fact, reduced coughing in severe cases might actually be linked to deteriorating health conditions or death, because the body is reallocating limited energy toward vital organ protection.
This was a fascinating finding, and it was enabled in part by Hyfe’s technology!
Episodes:
E1721: Hyfe’s Joe Brew on using AI to quantify coughs + Presh on generating content with ChatGPT
E1720: The rise of AutoGPTs and AI anxieties with Sunny Madra and Vinny Lingham
E1719: Copy.ai CEO Paul Yacoubian on keeping up with GPT’s rapid evolution & AI’s potential impact
E1718: Stanford & Google’s Westworld-like AI experiment, BloombergGPT, SF CRE collapse
E1717: Praying For Exits on the state of VC, ZIRP fraudsters, revolutionary product launches & more
